Grief Counselling Courses

Sat. & Sun. 30 & 31 August; Sun. 7, 14 & 21 September and Sun. 5 & 12 October. Time: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Venue: Paradise Kids Brisbane , 44 Newdegate St. , Greenslopes (Off Ridge St, follow signs to Greenslopes Hospital or take bus to Greenslopes Shopping Centre and short walk to Newdegate Street ).

GOLD COAST, Arundel:
9 August to 13 September 2008 and an additional two Saturdays for Paradise Kids Buddies.

In association with Paradise Kids, this experiential course explores basic counselling skills and how to help others, especially children, make creative choices in dealing with grief, loss and illness. It also helps participants become more aware of the importance of their own grieving. The course will benefit social workers, teachers, chaplains, nurses, counsellors, health professionals and others working with children or who would like to work as volunteers at Paradise Kids.

Three Saturdays : 9 August, 6 and 13 September 2008 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and
Four Wednesday evenings
: 13, 20, 27 August and 5 September 2008 7.00 p.m. to 9.30p.m.
Two additional Saturdays for Paradise Kids Buddies, 20 and 27 September, 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Hospice/Palliative Care Certificate Training Program

The Hopewell Palliative Care Training provides insights into the living and dying process, in which we are all participants. It will enrich previous experiences and qualifications, providing useful skills and attitudes to benefit those working in palliative care in hospitals, domiciliary agencies, nursing homes, as carers or as volunteers for the new Hopewell Hospice. Whether dealing with personal health issues or caring for someone else, this course will be of great benefit.

TWO Saturdays (9.30am to 4.30pm) 18 October and 15 November 2008 and
FOUR Wednesday evenings (7.00pm to 9.30pm) 22 & 29 October and 5 & 12 November 2008
Enrolment Fee: $200.00 payable to HOPEWELL to cover seminar costs and handouts.

REGULAR EVENTS

Explorations of Spirituality and Worship - A special time of reflection and sharing if you are interested in spiritual growth. First Sundays of each month at 11am to 1pm.

Heartstormers - For transformation, heart and soul work, pesonal growth work, team building, fun and to support each other on life's journeys. Open to staff, buddies and volunteers.

Other Creative Living and Wellness Programs, as well as Professional Development Programs are being planned for THE HOPEWELL CENTRE. These include: Breathwork, Core Energetics, the Work of Byron Katie, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Stress Reduction, Forgiveness, Parenting Skills, Dreams Workshops, Living Works – Suicide Intervention Training and Palliative Care from a Hospice Perspective.   People who might benefit are those with conditions such as:
          • Work, relationship or family stress
          • Headaches, sleep disturbances, grief reactions
          • Fatigue, loss of motivation, unemployment
          • Anxiety, panic, chronic pain, low sense of self worth.
