DEIRDRE HANNA
Founding President and Executive Director of Children’s Services and Spiritual Care.
Deirdre started work establishing Hopewell Hospice in 1993 while serving as an Anglican Hospital Chaplain, and ministering to the dying, the spiritually poor, the vulnerable, the sick and to children. Three years later she was inspired to add a children’s hospice program, thus was the birth of Paradise Kids. She was helped in this through receiving the Churchill Fellowship Award in 1995 to study “Spiritual Care of Cancer Patients”, which enabled her to travel widely and study facilities and programs in the UK and North America, including a conference on “Children and Death”.

Deirdre holds a Bachelor of Theology (B.Th) Certificate in Transpersonal Psychotherapy and Counselling; has been a Doctoral Student, University of Creation Spirituality; Multi-Disciplinary Certificate in Hospice Care, St Christopher’s London; Certificate in Mindfulness Meditation, Massachusetts Medical School Mind-Body Stress Reduction Clinic; Certificate in Spiritual Retreat Leading and Direction. Diploma of Nutrition and Dietetics; and Diploma in Swedish Massage. Zonta Gold Coaster of the Year (for the founding of Hopewell), Winston Churchill Memorial Fellow 1995 (Spiritual Care for Cancer Patients), The City of Gold Coast Women at Work wonderful 20th Century Gold Coast Women Award, for founding Hopewell and Paradise Kids, winner of the Gold Coast Bulletin Community Service Medal, 2007, member of the Churchill Fellows Association. It is through Deirdre’s passion for and exploration of many areas of spirituality and health that she has acquired the skills to lead THE HOPEWELL CENTRE into a new era of care and compassion. Ian holds Bachelors degrees in Arts, Education and Divinity (BA, BEd, BD) from the University of Queensland .  Diplomas in Physical Education and Religious Education (Dip.PhysEd, Dip.RE).  Doctorate in Education (EdD) from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Union Theological Seminary, New York, Fellow of the Australian College of Education (FACE) Order of Australia Medal 2002 (OAM) Minister of the Uniting Church, past General Manager Lifeline Gold Coast, member of the District Health Community Council and member of the Palliative Care Queensland State Council. 

Dr Mavor is currently the Executive Director for Hopewell Hospice Services and plays a key role in courses offered by Clare College of Transformative Education.

Hopewell Hospice Services became an Incorporated Association on 31 March 1994 and is a Registered Charity. The Association is led by a Board of Directors elected by the 30 members of the Association in accordance with the Constitution.

PAMELA CHALIP
Paradise Kids Counsellor

Pamela is a counsellor and group leader at Paradise Kids, a service that provides grief, loss and illness support for children, teens and their families. Pamela is a trained counsellor and primary school teacher with a Masters in Educational Psychology and a Doctorate of Counselling. An experienced manager and trainer with international experience, Pamela has been working with Paradise Kids since 2000.
Patrick Lynch
PATRICK LYNCH
Supervision and Counselling Manager

Currently the Manager of Counselling Services at Paradise Kids and Hopewell Hospice Patrick has over 20 years experience as a counsellor/psychotherapist. Originally trained as an Osteopath and then as a Physiotherapist Patrick has a strong orientation towards the inclusion of the body in any integrative practice. Extensive training in Arnold Mindell’s Process Orientated Psychology, combined with a strong interest in Dreamwork, Breathwork, the work of Byron Katie and Shamanistic Ally work means that Patrick’s approach to counselling and teaching is rich and varied. An experienced Teacher and Workshop facilitator Patrick presented a paper ‘How to use imagery rescripting in resolving complications associated with grief that involves trauma’ at the 8th International Conference on Grief and Bereavement in Contemporary Society in July, 2008.
Mireille Allan
MIREILLE ALLAN
Initial and On-going Support Co-ordinator & Counsellor

 Mireille is a trained grief and loss counsellor, and an experienced manager. She has worked for Paradise Kids since 2001 as a session leader, adult facilitator, special events organiser and administrative coordinator. Mireille has also worked as a volunteer counsellor at Hopewell Hospice.
Kerrie Cage
KERRIE CAGE, RN
Nursing Team Leader/ CNC

Kerrie has been a member of Hopewell’s staff for several years, drawing on extensive nursing experience in a variety of hospital settings. In 2009, during a time of change in the Hospice, Kerrie accepted responsibility as leader of the nursing team and has worked well to strengthen the sense of teamwork among the staff, as well as giving leadership in maintaining accreditation standards.
Marian York
MARIAN YORK
Volunteer and Family Support Coordinator

Since retiring from her many years of service at Gold Coast Recreation and Sport in 2009, Marian has taken on responsibility for coordinating the work of volunteers in the Hospice, as well as providing support for the families of residents. As a trained nurse, Marian brings multiple skills to her role. Marian has also initiated a process of arranging for volunteers to visit the homes of families caring for a loved one at home during the palliative phase. From her own experience, Marian is aware of how helpful it can be to receive social and emotional support during that time, in addition to nursing care provided by other agencies.
Leah Taylor

Development Manager

As our Development Manager, Leah works across all disciplines of the business for both the Hospice and Paradise Kids. Leah brings to the role a wealth of business experience having served the not for profit sector in senior management roles for the past 15 years. We would also like to acknowledge that Leah is a former Telstra Business Woman of the Year, ACT (Canberra).
Cath Maddox
CATH MADDOX
Grad Cert Grief and Loss, Grad Dip Counselling
Coordinator of the Living Well Centre

Cath is a Churchill Fellow (Spiritual Care of the Bereaved through End-of-life Review, 2008). A registered nurse, Cath pursued her passion for complementary therapy while her children were small, and volunteered for many years as a Reiki practitioner. Cath has studied Mindfulness based Core Process Therapy and attended and assisted on a number of workshops in relationship to this. Cath has served as Hospice Volunteer Coordinator and then as Coordinator of Counselling, Education and Spiritual Care. Cath has co-facilitated groups and workshops with an emphasis on spiritual growth, as well as running mindfulness meditation groups.
